Ashgrove Couture Call the shopCall
A navy kurta covered in fine gold and cream floral embroidery, worn, with a deeply worked band at the cuff.

Fashioned with love, wear your story

Every flower on this kurta was put there by hand. The rail turns over quickly and pieces rarely repeat, so what is hanging this week is largely what there is — and if you cannot get to the avenue, they will hold it up for you on a video call.

22 Orchid Lane, South Kolkata, Kolkata. Open every day, 11:30 am to 8:00 pm.

Edited couture. Limited works. Designed to be rare.

Pieces arrive in small numbers and rarely come back, so the rail is never quite the same twice. 22 Orchid Lane, South Kolkata, open seven days a week from 11:30 am to 8:00 pm.

On the rail this week

Co-ord sets, cape sets, kurtas, palazzos and drapes, for cocktail evenings, receptions, mehendi and sangeet nights. Push along to see them.

Two hands fastening the button of a purple bandhani shirt, the small white circles of the tie-dye visible close up across the sleeve.

The work you only see up close.

Sequins, beads, threadwork and floral appliqué, worked by hand on satin-sheen crepe and embroidered net. On the bandhani, every small white circle is a pinch of cloth tied by hand before the dye goes on, which is why no two lengths finish alike.

It is the kind of detail a photograph flattens. Held up to the light, a hand-embroidered panel reads completely differently.

Come and see one properly. We will get it off the rail for you.

Finding us on the avenue.

Look for the black board with the name in lit gold script, in English and in Bengali, and the hexagonal monogram at the left-hand end. The door is glass and it pushes open.

Open seven days a week, 11:30 am to 8:00 pm. Come in with the occasion in mind and the shoes you would wear with it.

The shopfront at night. A black signboard carries Ashgrove Couture in lit gold script above the line fashioned with love, wear your story, with the name repeated in Bengali and the gold DLC monogram at the left. Below, magenta pillars frame a lit window with a red embroidered outfit on a mannequin, and a glass door.

Where to find us

Over a video call

Not in Kolkata, or short of time? Telephone us, tell us the occasion, and we will take you through the pieces on a call.

Call 000000 00000

Before you visit.

Can I buy without coming to the shop?

Yes. Telephone 000000 00000, tell us the occasion and what you have in mind, and we will show you the pieces on a video call.

What is bandhani, exactly?

Cloth that is tied before it is dyed. Each small white circle is a pinch of fabric knotted by hand so the dye cannot reach it. Because the tying is done by hand, no two lengths come out identical.

When is the shop open?

Every day of the week, from 11:30 am until 8:00 pm.
