Chandanbari

Alterations are free. There is no limit on how many.

Chandanbari stitches blouses at the shop and alters what you buy until it fits, at no charge. It says so on post after post.

Blouse stitching, at the shop

A saree is only as good as the blouse under it, and a blouse is the piece most likely to need a second go. Chandanbari cuts and stitches it at the shop rather than sending it out, which is why bringing it back is easy.

Take the saree and your measurements. If you already have a blouse that fits, take that too: it is the fastest way to get the next one right.

How it goes

Four things, in the order they happen. Nothing here is a promise this site is making on the shop's behalf: it is what the shop publishes, arranged so it is easy to read.

  1. Choose the piece

Sarees, lehengas, suit pieces and kantha work are all on the shelf at the park.

  2. Measurements taken

For the blouse, and for the fit of a lehenga at the waist and the length.

  3. Try it on, and say what is wrong

This is the step people skip. It is also the one the free alterations exist for.

  4. Bring it back as often as it takes

The shop's own words are unlimited alterations, included for free. Not one alteration, and not free above some amount.

Home delivery

Home delivery is one of the services Chandanbari lists, and the Google listing for the the park shop shows delivery as well.

What area it covers, and what it costs if anything, are not published anywhere. This site is not going to guess at them. Ask on the phone before you order, and you will get a straight answer from the shop rather than a number invented by a website.

Why this matters more than the price

the avenue Avenue is full of saree shops, and most of them sell much the same cloth. What separates them is what happens after you have paid. A piece that does not sit right is a piece that stays in the almirah.

Ask before you travel

Stitching and alteration turnaround changes with the season, and the weeks before the pujas and the wedding months are the busiest. One phone call saves a trip.
