Ranghaat Handlooms

About Ranghaat Handlooms

A boutique on the second floor of Hollowmere Mall, Parkside, keeping handwoven cloth and the crafts behind it.

What we keep

Cloth first

Handwoven cotton and silk sarees, block printed shirts for women and men, cotton kurtis, dupattas and stoles. Alongside the cloth there is hand-cut brass and copper jewellery, and handcrafted pieces for the home.

The cloth comes from named weaving towns rather than from a warehouse: Fulia and Dhaniakhali in Bengal, Kota in Rajasthan, Telia from Telangana, tussar and blended silk woven in Bhagalpur, Chanderi and Maheshwari from Madhya Pradesh.

Ajrakh reaches us from Kutch and Dabu from Rajasthan, both stamped by hand with carved wooden blocks. None of it is quick to make, which is most of why it is worth having.

Yellow, teal and indigo printed drapes hanging in a row above stacks of folded sarees.
The Ranghaat Handlooms mark and name, handwritten in ink on a kraft card, resting on folded ochre khadi and woven jute.

The mark

Written by hand, like everything else here

The name and the mark are drawn, not set in a typeface. They go on the card that comes with a piece, and the same mark sits at the top of every page on this site.

It seemed right for a shop that sells cloth stamped with carved wooden blocks.

And what we do

More than handing it across the counter

We offer blouse and garment stitching, so cloth chosen here can be measured and made without going anywhere else.

We take bulk and trousseau orders with no minimum. How long an order takes depends on what is in it, so we agree the lead time with you rather than quoting one blind.

And we send pieces anywhere in India, for anyone who cannot get to Parkside.
