Services

Website design, development and hosting, written plainly.

Six groups of work. This is the same menu every client's agreement carries, and every rate on it is agreed in writing before the work starts. A service with no agreed rate has not been ordered.

Extras, quoted one at a time

Anything not on the menu is quoted in writing first and done only after you agree in writing.

  • A contact form, if you want one: we agree what it collects, as little as possible, where it is delivered, and the notice shown to visitors. We store nothing.
  • Statistics collected on the site itself, if you want them, with the privacy page updated first.
  • Moving the site to another host if the hosting company changes its plans or terms.

What you pay others directly

Everything stays registered in your name, so nothing about your business depends on us.

  • The domain and its renewals, any paid hosting plan, business email, licensed images. You pay the provider directly, in your own account.
  • We never buy these for you unless you ask in writing; if we then pay on your behalf you reimburse us at cost, and the thing bought is still registered to you.

In every site, by default

What comes with every site.

  • No forms, no cookies of its own, no analytics. Contact is through phone, WhatsApp and email links that open on the visitor’s own device.
  • Privacy and terms pages in plain English that describe what the site actually does.
  • Typefaces served from the site’s own folder, so no font provider learns who visited.
  • A complete copy of the site files at go-live and at handover. They are yours.
  • A robots file that names the AI crawlers and lets them in, and an llms.txt brief of the business for the assistants people now ask.
  • A small "Designed and built by" line in the footer, removed at no charge if you would rather not have it.

How a site is built so search engines and AI assistants can both read it, and what nobody can promise:found by machines.

Said plainly

What we are not.

  • Your marketing, advertising or public-relations agency.
  • Your legal, tax, regulatory or business adviser. Nothing we say or write is that advice.
  • The author of your business’s claims. We arrange and present the information you give us and approve.
  • A party to any sale, order, booking, treatment or refund between you and your customers.
  • The owner or holder of your domain, hosting account, Google account or any password.

Some trades have rules about what may be said in public: clinics, pharmacies, medical stores, food. The site is built factual, using the business’s own words and the facts it publishes, and the rules of your trade stay your responsibility. See the page on trades with rules.

Questions

Questions people ask

Do you use templates?

No. Each site is designed around the business and built by hand as fast static pages. We do keep our own building blocks, the layouts, code patterns and techniques we reuse across projects, and your agreement gives you a permanent free licence to them as part of your site.

Who owns the website?

You do. When the build invoice is paid, you own the finished pages as they appear on your site, along with your content, your domain and your hosting account. We keep ownership of our building blocks and reuse them; we never hand another client a copy of your site with the names changed.

Do you promise that the site will rank on Google?

No, and nobody honest can. We build the site so that Google can read it properly, set up your Business Profile and Search Console, and write the pages the way people search. What Google then decides is Google’s.

Where is the site hosted, and what does hosting cost?

On a hosting account created in your name, currently on the hosting company’s free plan, which has been enough for every site we have built so far. Any paid plan is yours to choose and pay for. What you pay us for is setting it up and looking after it.

Can I update the site myself?

The site is plain files, so anyone with the skills can edit them, and you always hold a complete copy. Most clients prefer the care plan: you send the new hours or the new photograph by WhatsApp and we place it, within the response time written into your agreement.

Can the site have a form?

Yes, if you want one. By default there is none, because a form means storing what visitors type and the duties that come with that. If we add one we agree in writing what it collects, as little as possible, and where it is delivered, and we store nothing.
